In collaboration with the River Basin Center (BBWS), I developed a mobile application to streamline communication between the public and government authorities. The app facilitates the submission of complaints, feedback, and issue reporting.

Key Technical Challenge: Reliable Large File Uploads

A critical requirement was to allow users to attach large evidence files, such as high-resolution photos and videos. A standard file upload approach would be unreliable and prone to failure, especially on unstable network connections, leading to a frustrating user experience.

My Solution: Chunking-based Upload System

I engineered a robust file upload system based on a chunking mechanism:

• Client-Side: Before uplolading, the application splits the large file into smaller, manageable chunks.
• Transmission: Each chunk is sent sequentially to the server.
• Server-Side: Once all chunks are successfully received, the server merges them back into the complete, original file.

This architecture dramatically improved upload reliability and provided a much smoother and more resilient user experience, ensuring critical evidence could be submitted successfully.
